Summary
Colliflower Inc's Hose-Fast location has an immediate opening for a Hydraulic Cylinder Machinist. The Hydraulic Cylinder Machinist 
will diagnose, repair, fabricate, and replicate hydraulic cylinders and associated assemblies to exact specifications. This position requires hands-on proficiency with manual lathe and manual mill operation, as well as the ability to read and work from blueprints to machine custom and replacement components. The technician must be skilled in teardown, inspection, honing, and reassembly of hydraulic cylinders, and will assist with loading and unloading, painting, moving parts through the facility, and final quality inspections. Must be able to work with minimal supervision. This is a full-time position at Colliflower’s Hose-Fast Location in Garland, Texas.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Support daily operation

· Diagnoses and troubleshoot issues in hydraulic cylinders.

· Use precision measuring tools to verify specifications and tolerances.

· Safely disassembling complex hydraulic components, recognizing signs of wear, and properly documenting part condition.
-Precisely reassembling cylinders, including the proper seating of seals, bearings, and pistons, often requiring careful torque specifications.

· Perform repairs and replacements of damaged parts, including seals, rods, and pistons.

· Operating a specialized machine (cylinder hone) to precisely finish the inner surface of the cylinder tube. This is critical for achieving the correct surface finish (cross-hatch pattern) for proper seal life and minimal fluid bypass.

· Reassemble cylinders and ensure proper alignment and functionality.

· Operate a manual lathe to turn, face, thread, and finish cylinder rods, shafts, and related components to precise dimensional tolerances.

· Operate a manual mill to machine cylinder end caps, flanges, mounts, and custom components as required for repair or replication.

· Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to replicate hydraulic cylinder components, ensuring all fabricated parts meet original design specifications and tolerances.

· Test repaired cylinders for leaks and performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

· Maintain detailed records of repair work, parts used, and service dates.

· Assist in the loading and unloading of trucks, painting, and moving parts through the facility

· Stage components to proper areas

· Maintain good housekeeping, clean and prepare work areas and equipment for repair tasks.

· Maintain clean and orderly working environment throughout the work area

· Maintain operation and maintenance of all equipment and tools in assigned area

Provide excellent service

· Provide recommendations for improving cylinder performance and longevity.

· Stay updated with the latest repair techniques and equipment advancements.

· Collaborate with team members and managers to ensure efficient workflow.

Qualifications and Skills

· High school diploma or GED equivalent.

· Certification in hydraulics or related field preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in hydraulic cylinder repair.

· Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical manuals and schematics.

· Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

· Ability to operate forklift and cranes

· Ability to use hand tools and specialized repair equipment.

· Experience with disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of hydraulic cylinders.

· Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.

· Basic welding and fabrication skills.

· Hands-on experience operating a manual lathe and manual mill; ability to set up cuts, select tooling, and hold tight tolerances on turned and milled parts.

· Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints and engineering drawings for the purpose of replicating hydraulic cylinder components to original specifications.

· Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures in a workshop environment.

· Excellent attention to detail and quality control.

· Good communication skills for reporting and documentation.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Physical Requirements

· Required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, feel, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

· Must be able to stand for extended periods of time (8+ hours).

Work Environment

· Work performed in a workshop/warehouse environment.

· Exposed to moving mechanical parts and saws, machining oils, warehouse temperature fluctuations, and arc light from welding.

· Noise level can occasionally be loud due to different machinery being operated (i.e.: forklifts, hand tools, and other machines).

· This position cannot be performed remotely.
